The house of cards slowly built by Novak Djokovic shattered into one million pieces. He had the chance to leave both of his rivals behind him by reaching a 21st Grand Slam title, with a cherry on top : achieving the calendar Grand Slam. But Djokovic choked in the final of the 2021 US Open. Versus an on fire Daniil Medvedev, Nole let the exploit go and even broke down in tears once he realized that it was not happening. Of course this takes away nothing from the fact that he has won at least twice all majors as well as all Masters 1000. He is also record holder for most weeks at number 1, overtaking Federer in March 2021, who was, back then, at 311 weeks. Three months later, the Serbian captured the title for the second time in Roland-Garros. The follow up victory in Wimbledon lead to think that all was going according to plan. But then came the Olympics and the lack of medals, followed by a shattered dream at the US Open. Djokovic is however younger than both Federer and Nadal, and can still hope to redeem himself. He just needs to get over this disillusion.
