Like a cat, Ashleigh Barty has had many lives. One of a rising star in tennis, winning the Wimbledon juniors title at the age of 15 in 2011. Then, that of a girl already tired of a life that she did not particularly care for. Which is why in 2014, the Aussie announced her withdraw from the tour. Mentally exhausted, she decided to take on some cricket which she never played seriously. Bingo ! She then started living the life of a Big Bash League member and very happy to be playing in a team sport. A break that gave her sufficient energy for a fresh start. Understatement ! Since her return to the tour in 2016, the Australian who is always smiling, slowly went up and up … in 2019 she captured her first major in Roland-Garros, the world number 1 spot and the Masters. Very impacted by the loss in Perth in the Fed Cup final versus France, Barty has since bounced back with another Grand Slam title in Wimbledon in 2021.
