Nobody saw her coming … In only her 5th Grand Slam, Barbora Krejcikova was able to win Roland-Garros in 2021. And not by chance. The girl from Brno in Czech Republic, beat the likes of top 5 player Elina Svitolina, and then Maria Sakkari in the semis, against whom she saved a match point. As if that wasn’t enough, Krejcikova also won the doubles along side compatriot Katerina Siniakova. Even if, for those two, it was « nothing new » as they had already won Roland-Garros and Wimbledon together in 2018. Able to create a lot of damage with her very pure back-hand, Krejcikova has cold blood flowing through her veins. Her inspiration comes from the late Jana Novotna who coached her for a while. Before arriving to Paris in 2021, she was crowned in Strasbourg, her first title in singles. She likes France, as well as winning. At first considered a doubles specialist, she is now that too in singles. And even if, since, she is more discreet, despite a title on home soil in Prague, and a quarter final at the US Open, it is all far from being over.
