What a blow ! Everyone was expecting number 14 to go into Rafael Nadal’s pocket during the 2021 Roland-Garros, but he was not able to make it past the semi-finals this time losing in a historical battle versus his nemesis: Novak Djokovic. Due to injury he was then forced to withdraw from Wimbledon and the Olympics to begin with before calling it quits for 2021 due to a foot injury. This mishap, takes, of course, nothing away from the greatest clay court player of all time, with his signature forehand, his amazing court coverage and his unbreakable mental strength. Nadal is at par with Federer and Djokovic with 20 Grand Slams. Unlike Federer, Rafa has a few more years to try and pass his Swiss friend/rival. His record at Roland-Garros is simply jaw dropping : 105 wins versus 3 defeats. If he manages to heal correctly, there is no reason to count him out in 2022.
