SERENA RETURNS TO INDIAN WELLS

Serena Williams makes her return to the Indian Wells Tennis Garden for the BNP Paribas Open for the first time since 2001.

It has taken 14 years but Serena Williams has finally returned to the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells.

In 2001 she won the title over Kim Clijsters but in the semis she had a walkover against her sister Venus because Venus was injured. The crowd didn’t like that and the sisters were booed and given a difficult time.

She made it clear she would never return but time, in most cases, heals wounds and with the support of a justice cause behind her, Serena has come back to Indian Wells to play and try to win the title for a third time. Here she is with her first practice session on the cavernous Stadium 1 at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden.
