Bernard Tomic is just 18 years of age and in July he became the first new male player for more than seven years to take over the Australian No.1 ranking.

In Australia Tomic had been developing a name for himself on the tennis courts having won the junior titles at the Australian Open and the US Open, but it was at Wimbledon this year that he made a name for himself internationally – he went through the qualifying rounds all the way to the quarters where it took the eventual champion Novak Djokovic to stop him.

Tomic has been maturing as a player and as an individual over the last couple of years and he has some very definite goals for the rest of this year and then beyond. We Are Tennis sat down with him for a chat.
