Elected sportswoman of the year 2015, Serena Williams moved away from the courts this week, but not from the news, thanks to her surprise appearance in Beyonce’s latest video.

Elected sportswoman of the year 2015, Serena Williams moved away from the courts this week, but not from the news, thanks to her surprise appearance in Beyonce’s latest video. Enough to take the lead in our offbeat ranking in front of Rafael Nadal who’s truly having an incredible come-back on clay, and Caroline Wozniacki, as active as ever on social networks.

1- Serena Williams (+9).

You want to see the world number 1’s figure in back light ? It’s possible.

As a shadow puppet ? Possible as well.

Incognito or almost on a theater stage, it’s also doable.

But the real surprise is Serena Williams’ presence in Beyonce’s latest video, announcing her new album, Lemonade. Queen B and Queen S side to side, the information was confirmed on the web by the player herself.

A Serena who truly seems to enjoy the world of show-business and television. Here’s one who shouldn’t struggle to find a reconversion once the racquets will be put aside…

Which didn’t stop her from receiving the award of the best sportswoman of the year, this week.

2- Rafael Nadal (-1).

They were already posing together before the start of the tournament to promote it…

…and they finally met again in the final, with Nadal’s win over Nishikori in a very nice last match of this 2016 edition of the Barcelona tournament.

Nadal confirms his return to favor and gets yet another win after his triumph at Monte-Carlo. A good omen before the French Open…

At home, the king of clay carried on with his ritual of diving in the pool with the tournament’s ball boys.

He mainly crushed all his opponents with his game, as he seems to be back at his best level. (j'ai un peu modif parce que la traduction littérale faisait pas trop anglais)

3- Caroline Wozniacki (+9).

Hey there, it’s Caro Wozniacki !

The Dane showed herself to be exceptionally active this week on Twitter. Revealing her big schedule attached to her fridge…

She also called her geeky fans to help her solve a computer problem.

She payed hommage to Prince.

Wozniacki also leaped in the « Coachella » fashion trend, with flowers in her hair.

And then, to finish the week, there was this nice picture taken under the sun in the south of France.

One thing is certain : ripped jeans are definitely back in fashion. Hear that, Kurt Cobain ?

4- The Barcelona ball boy (NE).

He has been THE star of the start of the tournament in Barcelona. The images of this slightly clumsy ball boy who ends up falling head first into the advertising boards before pretending nothing had happened were shown all over the world.

For the record, the match ended with a victory of Gabashvili against Almagro.

5- Novak Djokovic (-2).

And another award for Novak ! An honorary title and multidisciplinary as well : the Laureus sportsman of the year.

The Serb is his own successor. Among his predecessors, we find : Vettel, Bolt, Schumacher, Tiger Woods but also his tennis rivals Nadal and Federer. An award he received wearing a tuxedo and casual footwear.

Djokovic made the most out of his trip to Berlin and went to visit the natural history museum of the city.

6- Roger Federer (NE).

Roger Federer now has a street bearing his name, at home in Switzerland, in his town of Basel. Not exactly a street but an alley, which is already pretty classy.

The very chic Roger was also pretty classy with his hardhat on his head and a shovel in his hands, don’t you find ?

7- Fabio Fognini (NE).

Benoît Paire and Fabio Fognini on a picture, both smiling : long live the hot-heads !

The Italian also took a picture with Pablo Cuevas at the end of a training session which enabled Cuevas to qualify for the third round of the Barcelona tournament (defeated by…Paire) and Fognini to remember the taste of winning, reaching the quarter-final, before being defeated by the future champion, Rafael Nadal.

Otherwise, Fognini also enjoyed the eternal Totti’s feat this week in Italy : a late appearance and two goals to give Roma the win.

He also payed hommage to his beloved mother.

We’ve known worst bad boys…

8- Ana Ivanovic (-1).

Ana seems to be close friends with Angelique Kerber.

But if the German finally won the Stuttgart tournament, the Serb disappointed yet again after being knocked out in the second round. Oh well, at least her German trip enabled her to meet with her fans…

But also to gain experience on clay.

Ivanovic also took the time to pay hommage to Prince.

9- Kristina Mladenovic (NE).

Mladenovic also had a good time during her stay in Stuttgart. She got to drive a nice car thanks to the tournament’s sponsor.

And if she ended up being knocked out very early in the singles, in her new striped outfit…

…she went all the way in the doubles with her fellow countrywoman and friend, Caroline Garcia.

Enough to pick up some high-quality mountain bikes. Ok, they’re not the four-wheeled supercars, but they still look cool.

10- Nick Kyrgios (-1).

Kyrgios’ popularity is growing day after day.

And it’s at least as much for his tennis as for his frankness. Wether it be to commentate his musical tastes on the web…

…or have a (forced) laugh on the increasing anti-doping controls he’s had to face lately.

11- Maria Sharapova (NE).

The Russian celebrated her 29th birthday last week, on April 19th to be precise. Enough to send a message to her fans and retweet theirs, especially one where we see a baby Maria, who already seems at ease in front of the camera.

Obviously, Sharapova went for the « flower power » trend during Coachella.

But the big new of the week, is her return on the courts !

In training for now, waiting for the International federation and the world anti-doping agency to pronounce a judgement on her case.

12- Angelique Kerber (NE).

While awaiting Sharapova’s possible return on the courts, her rivals are having fun, and notably Angelique Kerber, who, in Stuttgart, won her second trophy of the season after the Australian Open in January.

At home, the German hit several « hot shots » to finally win quite easily in the final against her fellow countrywoman Laura Siegemund, 6/4 6/0.

13- Richard Gasquet et David Ferrer (NE).

Inseparable, Gasquet and Ferrer. Theoretically headliners of the Barcelona tournament, they withdrew at the same time, which didn’t stop them from visiting the FC Barcelona museum and receive a personalized shirt from the team famous for her trio : Messi-Suarez-Neymar.

14- David Goffin (NE).

The Belgian formalized this week his partnership with his new sponsor.

He’s also involved in the most WTF picture of the week.

Kôa !

15- Cagla Buyukakcay (NE).

Here’s a new face ! At home, in Istanbul, Cagla Buyukakcay won the first title of her history on the WTA circuit, dominating the Montenegrin Danka Kovinic (3/6 6/2 6/3).

It is a historical title, as it is the first won by a female turkish tennis player on the circuit. Obviously, she had to celebrate with the fans.

The elegant Cagla Buyukakcay will be one to follow, as she seems to deserve more than her current 118th spot at the WTA Race.
