By winning, at 28, her first Grand Slam tournament, Angelique Kerber has written her name in the history books of women’s tennis. However, as she’s about to become world number 2 at the WTA Race, the German remains a stranger, or just about, in the eyes of the general public. Luckily, her Twitter account is here to fill in the few gaps.

Manicure passion

If it’s complicated to know Angelique’s life like the back of your hand, it’s easier, on the other hand, to find out more about her nails. Sometimes transparent, two-colored…

…glittery…

…and even spotted…

…the German’s nails are posted on Twitter with an astounding consistency. An fetichism for manicure ? Rather a family passion shared with her sister Jessica, who works at a beauty salon and takes care of Angelique at a lower cost. A special attention to her nail styling which will however leave the manicure aesthetes perplexed.

Ana Ivanovic never leaves her

Between Angélique Kerber and Ana Ivanovic, a real friendship has emerged over the years, tournaments and events. With selfies…

…more or less centered, the two champions don’t hesitate to share their every-day life made of dinners…

…drinks on terraces and prestigious receptions.

On the court, the two 28 year-old players have however had mixed fortunes. Now world number 2, Kerber must look back to find the ex world-number one, who has fallen at the 20th spot. Still, Ana can console herself with two big advantages over her friend : she’s leading in the face-to-face matches against her (4-2), and has a long pair of legs which Angélique can secretly envy.

She’s a huge tourist

With the habit of going through every tournament in search of winning titles and the prize money, the players of the WTA circuit are accomplished travelers. Always in between two flights, you would think it could become quite boring going from one hotel room to another. Except for Angélique, who makes the most out of all her tennis-related stops to satisfy her touristic desires. And she is rarely disappointed. From the Vatican…

…to the towers of Dubaï...

without forgetting the Singaporean rooftops…

…Kerber travels the world with the same innocence and a flawless smile. Which could almost pass for naive amazement.

She’s a football fan

If Angélique Kerber is from now on the proud female representative of a winning Germany, there is no doubt that she sought her inspiration from her male counterpart. Which the numerous photos can prove…

…especially the ones directed at her fellow countrymen playing for the Mannschaft or Bayern Munich, who the young lady supports. Enough to relish the Bavarian’s win in the Champion’s League (2013)…

…or to go into raptures in front of the humiliation inflicted to Brazil during the World Cup 2014 (7-1).

And even to have Bastian Schweinsteiger, her friend Ivanovic’s boyfriend, return the compliment, after her first win in a Grand Slam tournament.

 Deutsche Solidarität.

Crazy about Pierogi

A light dumpling dough, filled with meat, potatoes, cottage cheese, cabbage, mushroom or even blueberries : that is the recipe of pierogis, a meal Angelique is deeply fond of. On the evidence of her photos, the young lady couldn’t have a better meal than these small, soft and tasty dumplings.

It must be said that in Poland, where her father Slawomir is originally from, the pierogi is a specialty which can be eaten at any meal. Appetite must be hereditary.
