Last summer, Lukasz Kubot dragged his 6 feet 3 to the quarterfinals of Wimbledon, helped by a powerful service. However, when we asked him to describe us the perfect player, the Polish seems to prefer the magicians to the brutes.
Forehand:
«Younes El Aynaoui and Juan Martin Del Potro. I love the effects that Juan gives to the ball. When it lands on the other side of the court, it’s like a bomb.»
Backhand:
«For the two-handed backhand, I would pick Yevgeny Kafelnikov. As for the one-handed backhand, Albert Costa. Kafelnikov was one of my role models when I was growing up and I loved him for his backhands, one of the best. He was taking the ball very early, especially in the service return. Novak Djokovic has almost the same at the moment.»
Service:
«Roger Federer. He's the one who can give it the more effects so it’s the most dangerous.»
Volley:
«Pat Rafter in his time and Michael Llodra today. He's the aggressive player par excellence. He also manages to go from long and short volley very well. He's very talented.»
Mental:
«Rafa Nadal. When he's in a bad position, he always knows how to get back on his feet and reverse the situation. He always give the best, even when he's in trouble.»
Physique:
«Rafa Nadal again, even if Djokovic is at the same level.»
Creativity:
«Federer, for all the variations he brings into his game. »
Legwork:
«Rafael Nadal and Djokovic have the best legs, but if I had to give the fastest, it would be John Paul Fruttero. I played against him many times and he goes for every balls. Every single ones.»
Drop Shot:
«Janowicz has the best drop shot. He’s new on the tour but he's the one that master it the best and gets the ball exactly where he wants it behind the net, even when he's behind the baseline.»
Girlfriend:
«I have the best girlfriend. (Laughs) This way, no jealousy»
