Alice in Wonderland was an amazing children’s story but to have it inspire a tennis outfit is not something too many would have considered, except of course Venus Williams who, like sister Serena, is right into fashion design. The dress Venus wore for her clothing label “Eleven” for her match at the Australian Open is about the unexpected “It's kind of about a surprise, because when Alice goes down the hole, the rabbit hole, she finds all these things that are so surprising,” Venus explained. “   This outfit is about having a surprise in tennis a dress, and kind of showing some skin and then just having a print.  Prints don't happen that often in tennis.  So it's called the Wonderland dress.  It was fun.” There is no doubt Venus puts a lot of thought into what she dresses. She added: “I love fantasy, and this was kind of a way to express who I am on the court.” One fashion illiterate in the Australian tennis media who thinks style is a tank top, shorts and flip flops, thought the lattice work on the dress looked like a Belgian waffle.
